Access & Equity with No-cost Course Materials

Are you looking for alternative ways to support student access to course materials? Hear from faculty about how adopting OER has transformed their teaching. Part of Open Teaching Week.

Tuesday

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Students Creating Knowledge in the Open

Building on the open educational resources (OER) movement, open pedagogy engages students as knowledge creators, often in open, public venues. Assignments move from “disposable assignments” with an audience of one, the instructor, to meaningful assignments with a broader audience. Students may edit Wikipedia articles, write for public blogs or on Twitter, or create and contribute to OER. Join us for a lively conversation with faculty from BMCC who are engaged in open pedagogy projects with their students. Part of Open Teaching Week.

Open Platforms for Open Course Materials

Speech faculty have collaborated on a new open textbook available on the CUNY Pressbooks platform. We’ll also hear about CUNY Manifold, home to open texts for teaching as well as texts by CUNY students. Both platforms can be used to deliver open educational resources that you and your students create.
