Using the Remind App to Help Students Stay on Track

This is the first in a series of blog posts in which BMCC faculty share tools and strategies for remote teaching and learning.

In this video, Tim Leonard discusses how he uses the Remind app to communicate with students. Remind is an app and web-based tool that supports two-way communication via text message, email, or the Remind app. Tim uses Remind as a way to get information to students quickly and to a place where they are likely to see it – their phones.

    Tim,
It’s rather late in the current semester, do you recommend trying to use the Remind app at this juncture?

    Hi Jorge,
I think it depends on what you might want to use it for. For example, if you are looking to use it to re-engage students it may be difficult to get those who are already disengaged. That said, the setup is simple so it certainly is worth a try!
    I hope this helps.
    Tim
