Description
Join us on December 1st from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Shirley Fiterman Art Center for an in-person tour of Pablo Helguera’s A Journal of the Year of the Pharmacy This exciting and interactive exhibit explores aspects of identity in ways that are both profoundly personal and connected to larger societal issues and shared cultural contexts. In the exhibit, which was developed from March 2020 to the present, Helguera reflects upon the social and health crisis of the COVID pandemic. In a series of four installations and accompanying monologues, the artist draws from autobiographical materials and diaries to explore topics that include the complexities of cultural identity, the role of geography in our personal lives, our desire for escapism, walking as a process of learning, and the psychology of those who play a supporting role in the arts.
