Would you like to help students apply their knowledge to real-world problems? This brown bag discussion will focus on the goals of experiential learning and examples of experiential learning activities across disciplines. We will talk about how experiential learning differs from academic learning, and also how they complement and reinforce each other. Professors Mindi Reich-Shapiro (Teacher Education), Owen Roberts (Media, Arts, and Technology), and Lisa Rose (Human Services) will share examples of experiential learning activities, including internships and pair programming. The discussion will be facilitated by the new director of Internships and Experiential Learning, Sharon Reid.

This session is part of a faculty-led “brown bag” series on pedagogy that takes place once a month in CETLS. Each meeting will focus on a specific topic related to teaching and learning. We will discuss effective teaching strategies as well as challenges in a non-formal environment. Please bring your own lunch!

Please RSVP to cetls@bmcc.cuny.edu.
