Presenters:

  • Lesley Rennis (Health Education)
  • Precious Sellars-Mulhern (Counseling Center)

The community college brings together diverse groups of people with different, oftentimes competing, roles.  Mindfulness and other contemplative strategies encourage introspection and non-judgement, traits that are essential for creating transformational learning experiences.  Professors Lesley Rennis and Precious Sellars-Mulhern will discuss their ongoing research investigating BMCC’s organizational culture and its ability to support contemplative practices. This event is the first in a semester-long series focused on incorporating mindfulness and contemplative practices in the classroom and other aspects of faculty professional practice.

This event was organized by the Campus Culture group of the CETLS Advisory Board:

  • Mindi Reich-Shapiro (Teacher Education)
  • Daly Guilamo (Center for Ethnic Studies)
  • Peter Mayer (Business Management)
  • Cheryl Christopher (Allied Health)
  • Alex Evangelista (Health Education)
