Description
Join us for a conversation about helpful and meaningful ways for faculty to build AI literacy with and for students.

OpenAI’s release of ChatGPT has set off a rush to invest in, create, and deploy AI. This rush has solidified the fact that not only is Generative AI here to stay, but it is likely to be with us everywhere, from commercial search engines to basic tools for reading and writing documents.

In this session, we’ll begin to build a shared understanding of AI in general to help ground us and our learners in a critical literacy of AI as these technologies continue to evolve, and we’ll discuss creative and critical ideas on how to use these tools in our educational contexts. The session will also include:

  • Discussion of ethical frameworks that can help students make informed decisions to use or not use Generative AI
  • Imagining pathways to co-creating community standards for AI use in the classroom and for class assignments
  • Practical exercises and conversation that reincorporate the goals of critical information literacy in the context of generative AI

Do you know students who are interested in discussing AI? Chris is also facilitating a session for students on March 29.
