Patrick Flink (Academic Literacy & Linguistics)
Description
This interactive workshop will be presented by Professor Patrick Flink, a Navy veteran. Through the perspective of a military veteran, Patrick will share his personal story of life as an active duty military member. This story will set the foundation of understanding why military members think and behave the way they do. From this foundation, the focus of the workshop will be to present, and discuss, military culture and student veterans. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and interact with the presenter and other participants. Understanding student veterans will help faculty and staff in their daily interactions with this group of students.
