Welcome to Open Teaching Week! Join CETLS, the BMCC Library, and Digital Education for a week of open classrooms, guided course tours, and open knowledge.
This is the second installment of our video guided course tours (see part 1 here). In the videos below, three BMCC faculty members share tours of their courses:
Video 1: Catherine Cammilleri (English) highlights an assignment for her asynchronous ENG 101 course, a first-year writing course that introduces students to the academic writing process through the study of culturally-diverse nonfiction prose. This assignment incorporates the Brightspace “video notes” feature, which allows students to easily record short videos to post to the discussion board.
Video 2: Quentin Angus (Music and Art) walks us through his fully asynchronous, writing-instensive course, MUS 122 – The World of Hip-Hop, with a focus on the overarching course structure and the variety of types of assignments he includes in his courses.
Video 3: Chieftess Olufemi (Teacher Education) demonstrates how she sets up group assignments in her Brightspace course (ECE 110 – Psychological Foundations of Early Development and Education) and how she organizes assignments so that students see them in order of due date.
