Description
The Committee on Race, Equity and Inclusion, the BMCC Library and CETLS are co-sponsoring a bell hooks Book Club for the Spring 2022 semester. To honor Dr. hooks’ legacy and to further our work on culturally relevant, anti-racist, and trauma-informed pedagogy, the participants will read Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom.
Session 3 discussions will cover chapters 7-9.
- Chapter 7, “Holding my Sister’s Hand: Feminist Solidarity” guided by Victoria Apostol-Marius
- Looking for volunteers for remaining chapters
During the Zoom sessions, there will be breakout rooms by chapter, and we’re looking for volunteers to (gently) guide these conversations. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Hollis at hglaser@bmcc.cuny.edu.
An electronic copy of the book is available here through the BMCC Library.
