Description
BMCC is currently in the process of developing First Year Experience (FYE) enhanced courses. Similar to writing-intensive courses, these are credit-bearing courses taught by faculty with training and/or experiences with best practices aligned with FYE principles.

The idea behind FYE is simple: improve student experiences, help students feel that they belong as part of the BMCC community, and help students navigate the college experience, thus increasing retention. Through the development of students’ academic stance, identity, and social and ethical responsibilities, students will become more successful learners and continue toward the completion of a two-year degree.

In this workshop, part of a year-long series, faculty who are currently teaching FYE-embedded courses will share a lesson or artifact from their FYE-enhanced course with a  focus on the development, implementation, challenges, and successes.
