Kirsten Cole (Teacher Education)
Description
As bell hooks reminded us, “To teach in a manner that respects and cares for the souls of our students is essential if we are to provide the necessary conditions where learning can most deeply and intimately begin.” (From Teaching to Transgress, p. 13) At this session we will engage in collective inquiry to explore the question: What’s love got to do with teaching and learning? Participants will be provided with prompts to prepare and share a recollection of a time that love could be felt in our experiences of teaching and learning. By gathering and discussing these stories we will deepen our collective understanding of the role of love in education.
